President Trump made a lot of promises in his presidential campaign, and one by one he is making sure to cross them off the list.
Yet another one of his promises was fulfilled when he attended the G20 Summit, accompanied by his Attorney General Jeff Sessions, his deputy Rod Rosenstein and the Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats.
They even made time to visit the Guantanamo Bay prison camp at the US naval base in Cuba.
Former President Barack Obama, was determined to shut this place down, during his eight years in office. But Donald Trump is a who other case. Evidence for this, was his announcement, that rather than shutting it down, he plans on filling it capacity again.
With everything that has been going on lately, and with all the rapes and robberies, this will not be a problem.
Prior to leaving the Summit, Attorney General Jeff Sessions stated that the prison is a “very fine place” and said that there s no reason not to fill it with new prisoners.
As UConservative has reported, former President Obama signed the executive order back in 2009, that was supposed to close the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay.
He reportedly stated: “The message that we are sending around the world is that the United States intends to prosecute the ongoing struggle against violence and terrorism and we are going to do so vigilantly. We are going to do so effectively and we are going to do so in a manner that is consistent with our values and our ideals.”
This is what a draft copy of the order read :
“In view of significant concerns raised by these detentions, both within the United States and internationally, prompt and appropriate disposition of the individuals currently detained at Guantanamo and closure of the facility would further the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States and the interests of justice.”
As much of the things around Obama do, this effort ultimately failed as well.
